The signboard (black & white) is a tribute to the first mountain guide, Gunting bin Lagadan (1888-1966), a legend among the Dusun community. From what I read, the sign meant his spirit will always be there to guide and provide for a safe journey for climbers up Mount Kinabalu. Thanks Gunting!
